ABOUT US

Building lives with dignity

Choco4Peace supports constructing and sustaining peace in post-conflict regions of Colombia by supporting farmers, women, youth, Indigenous and other at-risk people to access fair markets for their chocolate-producing cacao, as well as innovative finance and disruptive technology.

Our Story

Choco4Peace is a for-profit, multi-institutional movement that builds peace in Colombia using chocolate and disruptive technology. We are headquartered in Montreal, with supply chain logistics run out of Bogotá.

Choco4Peace incorporated on February 14, 2018 and grew out of research with over 100 stakeholders, second-floor banks, development finance institutions, impact investors, universities, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from 3 continents. It focused on SMEs in sustainable agriculture and forestry in emerging economies, and the obstacles they face when trying to access the finance and services they need to climb out of the trap of poverty and grow their businesses.

Progress

It's been a couple of very busy and productive years were we have accomplished quite a bit.

C4P won the Social Impact Hero award at the 2020 Hustle Awards.

Social Capital Markets

Social Capital Markets selected our founder as one of the innovative, environmentally-driven entrepreneurs to take part in SPECTRUMVirtual.

Colombian Ministry

Featured by the Green and Sustainable Business office of the Colombian Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in the launch of its Strategy for Strengthening - Green Business Capacities in collaboration with the private sector.

Katerva Awards

Nominated as a finalist for the 2020 Katerva Awards. These awards highlight forward-thinking ideas about sustainability.

Concordia Annual Summit

Participated in the 2018 and 2019 Concordia Annual Summit in New York and Bogota in conjunction with the UN General Assembly.

Appeared in several publications including Business Leader, StartupsMagazine, Forbes, Baronmag, Journal de Montréal, Blockermag, SeeChangeMagazine and on the Crypto & Blockchain Talk podcast.

Conferences

Presented at conferences around the world, including Nasdaq in Stockholm and the Social Finance Forum in Toronto, and at Blockchain conferences in the UK, Malta, and Montreal.

Results

Decentralized Inclusive Economic Network

The Decentralized Inclusive Economic Network (DIEN), C4P’s B2B, fee-for-service blockchain platform, has been modelled with the support of Beyond Capital Markets (a global financial innovation platform) in partnership with the World Bank, and is to be developed by a contracted third party.

Cacao Associations

We signed agreements with 7 cacao associations across 4 regions of Colombia, representing over 1000 small farmers.

Salon du Chocolat

C4P chocolate was selected to be presented at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris – the largest chocolate event in the world with over 3,000 attendees and world-renowned chocolate chefs.

Colombian President

We have entered into conversations with sitting Colombian President Ivan Duque, who supports Choco4Peace in using Blockchain for social good in Colombia.

Expressions of Interest

We signed expressions of interest with Etherisc (a decentralized insurance company), the anti-narcotics special forces of Colombia, Fedecacao (the Colombian cacao federation), and several other socioeconomic service providers and blockchain technology companies.
